What is Wild Wild West Con?

Wild Wild West Con is Arizona's first and only steampunk convention and festival. This is a revolutionary re-invention of the standard hotel-based convention. The core of our event is within Old Tucson Studios, a famous movie studio and amusement park built in 1939. For this weekend only, Old Tucson is transforming into the town of Rusted Gear.

The year is 1896 and it is Rusted Gear's centennial celebration. The town is hosting an amazing number of events and an active story line during this celebration including: music concerts, a dinner theater, a tea party with a published author, a charity fashion show, a freak show art show, a mercantile pavilion, a street parade, street performers, a high noon dual competition, a fast draw competition, a gaming parlor, live action stunt shows, cabaret saloon shows, ghost tours, a masquerade ball, a mad scientist lab, costume contests, courtroom discussion panels, how to workshops and much more.

What is Old Tucson Studios?

Old Tucson Studios is an active working movie studio set and a dynamic theme park. Some of the movies shot here are Tombstone, Wild Wild West, The Three Amigos and a host of others.  

Why Old Tucson Studios?

Old Tucson Studios is the best place to make the town of Rusted Gear a reality! Imagine being able to take beautiful photos against period correct buildings and props. OTS is a bit outside the city of Tucson so everywhere you look is a rustic, authentic town with a beautiful desert landscape.

Does Wild Wild West Con have a host hotel?

Yes we do, the Hotel Tucson City Center. Some of our night time entertainment will be held at the host hotel. We have negotiated discounted room rates four our guests as well as excellent benefits for staying at the hotel. Our hotel page has a full list of hotel features, room rates and booking information.

What about transportation to Hotel Tucson City Center & Old Tucson Studios?

There is a free airport shuttle to Hotel Tucson City Center for hotel guests. We are working hard to find a transport company to provide transportation from Hotel Tucson City Center to Old Tucson Studios. Please note if and when we do there will likely be a fee associated. Getting a rental car reservation at this time is highly recommended.

What about parking?

Parking is free! Hotel Tucson City Center has a large parking lot and overflow lot. Old Tucson Studios has a large main parking lot and two overflow lots. We have made sure that our parking space is greater then the number of guests expected.

Is Wild Wild West Con strictly wild west steampunk?

We love all aspects of steampunk, not just the Wild West variety: Purist Victorian, Neo-Victorian, Goth Victorian, Post Apocalyptic, Weird West Punk, Purist Western, Diesel Punk, Cyber Punk or whatever your style - you are welcome at Wild Wild West Con. We have a zero tolerance for intolerance. Costume Nazis stay home!

Do I have to dress up to be a part of Wild Wild West Con?

Going to the con in costume not a requirement. Will you have fun if you dress up? Yes! You will find many of the guests as well as the park staff and convention staff are all dressed in costume. Know that you will be surrounded by people who love steampunk and costumes. We will also have costuming classes to help you put together exactly the look you were imagining, or help you develop a character.

What is the weather like in Tucson in March?

The weather in Tucson in March is quite beautiful. Evenings are in the 50s and during the day it's in the 60s to low 70s. There is no better time of year to visit!
